Designer-Jeans – Das blaue Umweltwunder

Schuld an über 50 Prozent der weltweiten Trink- und Grundwasserverschmutzung ist die Textilindustrie. Dabei ist die Jeansveredelung Spitzenreiter bei der Gewässerverschmutzung. Zwischenzeitlich wird in der Textilveredelung mit 7000 verschiedenen chemischen, die Umwelt und die Gesundheit der Arbeiter belastenden, Hilfsmitteln, wie Sandstrahlen und Chlorbleichung gearbeitet. Konrad Buck wollte die 100 prozentige Alternative zur konventionellen Jeans, Peter Parwan von LOHAS forderte nachhaltige, umweltschützende Produktionsweise mit absoluter Transparenz und Hans-Jörg Hamann, Erfinder der abwasserfreien Technologie, der in den 90er Jahren schon Öko-Stoffe für Steilmann produzierte, wollte keine Teillösung, sondern eine 100 prozentig ökologische Jeansveredelung erreichen.
Bei der neuartigen Technologie, die vom Rohgewebe aus konventioneller Baumwolle, bis zur fertigen Designer-Jeans völlig ohne Abwasser auskommt, sind der Kreativität keine Grenzen gesetzt.

Gewinner des mit 2.500 Euro dotierten deutschen RecyclingDesignpreises 2012 sind Lea Gerber und Samuel Coendet. Die Jury zeichnet die Schweizer Designer für ihre Secondhand-Kuscheltiere „Outsiders“ aus.
